I've flirted on and off with this game. It's potential is absolutely amazing but the required amount of time to play it properly is prohibitive.

Not really the best thing I've ever played. Combat is way too simple with no dogfighting or using any real tactics. Massive amounts of time are needed in order to level up/train skills. Losing a fight means having your ship permanently destroyed with insurance for ships becoming more expensive.
I'd just start playing freelancer or something thats more rewarding for you and is something that you have realistic time for. It's not the worst game I've ever played but theres too much that turned me off to actually stick with it.

I play EVE. Started a few months ago. The game defiantly has some low points but overall its one of the best mmo's I've ever played.

Freelancer (circa 2002 or something) is good just to fuck around with occasionally, nice spacey stuff.
Homeworld 2 is pretty damn cool too.
But yeah, not enough galaxy-trekkin games out there that arent RPG's.
